Connectivity


Time – the essence of Master Fidelity’s philosophy and expertise – requires careful attention not only at signal generation, reception or conversion, but also during transmission.
 
While any properly implemented digital signal transmission is bit perfect by definition – and therefore arrives at the receiving end without loss and in the intended sequence – the timing characteristics with which the signal is received can be significantly affected by various factors, from the protocol itself, the underlying technology, or technical implementation flaws.
 
Master Fidelity products rely on extremely precise timing. Whether it is the true 1-bit architecture of the NADAC D, the 10 MHz–driven computer motherboard of the NADAC S, or the NADAC C clock generator itself, all components operate within a tightly controlled time domain. As a result, communication between these devices requires that timing integrity be carefully preserved to ensure that the inherent sound quality of each unit is maintained when integrated into a complete system.
 
Although the NADAC D Clock Recovery module is specifically designed to compensate for incoming signals affected by jitter and wander, and the NADAC S is engineered to generate signals with ultra-low jitter and wander, the connection between them can still introduce perturbations if not properly controlled.


For this reason, Master Fidelity devoted nearly two years of research to developing highly resilient cables capable of preserving extremely low levels of jitter and wander from source to destination—even at very high frequencies such as 22.4 MHz. This proved to be a significant technical challenge.
 
These constraints were already identified during the design phase of the NADAC D, leading to the selection of a USB-C connector. This choice enables superior control of high-frequency behavior and jitter/wander performance compared to traditional USB-B interfaces.
 
USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables were therefore developed to meet the highest transmission standards, while preserving the ultra-low jitter and wander performance required by both the NADAC D and NADAC S to achieve their unparalleled sound quality.
 
At the same time, to allow NADAC users to benefit from the wide range of well-designed cables available on the market, Master Fidelity also offers a USB-C to USB-B adapter. This adapter is engineered with the same level of precision and built according to the same principles as Master Fidelity cables.
